2. Jack Johnson
The oldest man on this list, he fought in a time when African Americans were considered lower strata of this society. Johnson holds the distinction of being the first fighter to possess a fighting career over five years. He was the first African American world heavyweight boxing champion. In his documentary, American filmmaker Ken Burn said that Johnson has been the most well-known Afro-American on Earth for 13 years. He died in 1946, at the age of 68.
