8. ESSENCE MUSIC FESTIVAL
Launched in 1994 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Essence, a magazine for African American ladies, the event has grown into the biggest music festival of African American culture in the USA. The Essence was nicknamed “the party with a goal” and’The Essence music festival’ functions as a party of Black culture and achievements both present and past. Approximately 450,000 people attended the festival in 2016.
